HAVERSTRAW, N.Y. -- Porfirio Melendez Perez, of Haverstraw, died Nov. 13. He was 79.
He was born in Vega Baja, Puerto Rico and resided in Haverstraw. He was retired from ShopRite, where he worked for many years.
He is survived by his wife, Bertha Perez; children, Nilda and husband Vito Morales, Ray and wife Peggy Melendez and William Melendez, Angeles “Maria” and Adalberto Padilla, Bernadette, Michael and wife Leah Perez and Heather and husband Sean McGovern; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; two brothers, Anibal and Jose Melendez; and sister, Flor Melendez.
He was predeceased by his granddaughter, Karissa.
Visitation will be from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday at the George M Holt Funeral Home Inc., 50 New Main St., Haverstraw. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Peters and St. Mary’s Church, 115 Broadway, Haverstraw.
